Islandistas heating up the summer on Vogue & Harper’s Bazaar covers!

You know you just can’t keep islandistas off of magazine covers!

Barbadian pop star Rihanna and Jamaican model Jeneil Williams are stunning on the covers of Harper’s Bazaar Arabia and Vogue Turkey respectively.

With both ladies known in different ways for their sensational bodies (Jeneil for being more toned and athletic than the average model and Rihanna for being well…straight up sexy), the styling for both covers is a departure from the way we are used to seeing them. And we’re loving it!

Jeneil is part of a trio of IMG models in a serene shot taken in a field of flowers. I love how it evokes the gentler, more relaxed side of summer and I love how Jeneil looks in it. The shot itself is a bit awkward and has been causing a buzz over on The Fashion Spot. I feel like Jeneil and Katlin Aas (the brunette next to her) have the right, slightly dreamy expression but Devon Windsor’s (the blond at right) expression is a bit hard and throws off what they were trying to do.

Still, it’s Jeneil’s first Vogue cover and that still counts for a lot in the industry. 2014 is turning out to be a great year for her, what with being the face of Nasty Gal clothing and securing a campaign with Nike which is such a perfect fit for the former runner. Go deh Jeneil!

Meanwhile, Rihanna’s hot haute couture spread for Harper’s Bazaar Arabia is sending social media and traditional media alike mad, especially in the wake of her CFDA outfit earlier this month.

Next to a headline which proclaims: ‘The New Modesty – Cover up in Style’, Rihanna slays in a mesh face mask with a dramatic, bejewelled bow.

The theme continues on the inside as she showcases several covered up looks that are stunning in their detailed beauty. In a video interview posted by Harper’s Bazaar, Rihanna noted that she “wanted to do something high fashion, but still something traditional to their culture” and she definitely succeeded with this shoot!
