One thing is always certain with London Fashion Week – they like who they like and they do what they like.
While each of the fashion weeks have their own character, London has always struck us as being the most distinctive of all. From the defiantly high-low mix of fashion, to their quirky, designers, their own version of front row ‘celebrities’, to the models they love, London does it its own way.
In past seasons, it was Jeneil Williams who was hardly seen at NYFW but got lots of London love across the pond.
So who is London loving this season?
Saint International’s Kai Newman for one. Though to be honest, we should just call this girl Raymond because everybody’s loving her!

We’ve spotted her on a ton of catwalks thus far, including the high profile Burberry show and other strong shows like Peter Pilotto and Brit favourite Christopher Kane.
Hometown girls Jourdan Dunn and Leomie Anderson have also been booking some key shows that showed a definite leaning towards great British designing talent. Leomie modelled for Vivienne Westwood Red Label and Temperley London while Jourdan appeared on the catwalk for Top Shop, Burberry and Giles Deacon.

Canadian model Kayla Clarke (whose parents hail from Guyana and Jamaica!) has also been seen quite a bit, modelling for Sister by Sibling, Holly Fulton and in Lucas Nascimento’s fabulous return to LFW.

And last but not least, the Dominican Republic’s latest hot fashion face, the teenaged Ysaunny Britto has also been seen on the catwalks and for a relative newcomer, has appeared in some good shows, including Burberry and Giles Deacon.

One reply on “London Fashion Week – which islandistas are ruling the runways?”
Love this feature! Great to see “islandista’s” on the runways and even better to see them getting coverage.
