Even with the horrid weather that has been keeping lots of celebs home or better yet, vacationing in the Caribbean , several islandistas were still pret-a-feter when online luxury fashion retailer Net-A-Porter launched their new print venture – the bimonthly Porter magazine during New York Fashion Week.
Antiguan stylist June Ambrose and Jamaican-descended designer Carly Cushnie were all at the party as was Grenadian-descended singer Estelle.

The AMFAR gala which kicked off NYFW also saw several islandistas in attendance, with none other than the epic Jamaican Grace Jones performing.

The crowd in attendance included Caymanian model Selita Ebanks, who was interviewed by New York Magazine about the new regulations in place to protect child models and gave a hilarious anecdote about how her dad came to the rescue when the crew at an early photo shoot suggested some…interesting shots.

“I was 17, and honestly, there was no Model Alliance back then, but my father was my Model Alliance. I remember I was on a job, and they wanted to do all-nude on a horse. I don’t know where my dad came out from. He jumped out from the bushes, grabbed me, and was like, “We’re outta here!” So, I think there are so many girls from so many countries who are so young and don’t really have a dad or a mom to really keep an eye on them. This industry could definitely swallow you up, and you’re misled, you know. Your agents don’t always have your best interests, but I was so fortunate to have a great father.”
Selita was also at the Suno afterparty, along with Haitian-American jewellery designer Monique Pean.

And in a blast from the past, model Sessilee Lopez was spotted at the after-party for the Nicole Miller. I miss seeing her on the catwalks – really thought she had the look of longevity.
